Where are the Klamath People?

Originally, the Klamath Tribe occupied much of the Southern Oregon plateau and basin freely. The present day Klamath Indian Reservation consists of twelve small non-contiguous parcels of land in Klamath County. These fragments are generally located in and near the communities of Chiloquin and Klamath Falls. Their total land area is 1.248 km². As is the case with many Native American tribes, few of them actually live on the reservation. The reservation is in the southwestern corner of the plateau of eastern Oregon, at the eastern foot of the Cascade Mountains and near the southern border of the State.
